I believe that you are the expert of your own life and I will work collaboratively with you to find practical solutions, new ways to think about problems, and helpful coping strategies that work for you. By working together we will help you discover your own strengths and the confidence to take on life’s challenges.

My trauma informed approach focusses on self regulation and also draws from cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused brief therapy, and person-centred therapy to create an experience that fits your needs and preferences.

Background

I have worked in the mental health field since 2014. I formalized this career path by completing a Masters of Counselling Psychology in 2019. I have worked with youth as a support worker and school counsellor. Through this, I supported children and their families through life’s many challenges. I am passionate about working with young people, giving them a voice and helping them find their confidence and strengths.

I strive to find new ways to normalize mental health support and serve the amazing people of the Elk Valley. Several years ago it became clear that there was a lack of community mental health resources for men. In response to this, some colleagues and I formed Fellaship in 2019, a free weekly mental health and support group for men where I continue to facilitate meetings. Like Fellaship, West Fernie Counselling is dedicated to bringing men’s mental health to the forefront and to eliminate the stigma surrounding it.
